Bike Festival Group Rides & Shuttles

Group Ride & Shuttle Schedule, Descriptions, Ability Level Definitions & More

Shuttles are available to festival pass holders only. On-site group rides are open to the general public. There is limited space available for all van shuttles so riders must sign up prior to boarding the shuttle at the Festival Registration Tent. Some group rides may exceed demo periods so please consult with your demo staff BEFORE departing on a longer group ride or shuttle. Adaptive riders seeking to join any offsite shuttle ride should consult Base Camp to ensure adequate shuttle bike carrying capacity.

Mill Creek Shuttle Ride

Friday, September 1, 1:00pm

1-2 Hours

Meet just below the Trap Bar deck for this intermediate ride across Grand Targhee and descending over 2100′ into Teton Canyon.

On this ride, we’ll ride Andy’s Trail across the southern portion of Grand Targhee. From there, we’ll descend Colter’s Escape and connect to the famous Mill Creek Trail under the shadow of the Grand Teton. The shuttle van will pick riders up at the Teton Creek parking area at 2:45. No e-MTBs

Grove/Drake Group Ride, Presented by Wheel Wranglers

Friday, September 2, 1:30pm

2 Hours +

Meet at the Skills Park to load the Wheel Wranglers bike shuttle and shuttle van at 1:30pm for this Teton Valley classic intermediate advanced loop ride just west of Victor in Big Hole Mountains. Approx 40 min drive to/from the TH. Ride typically approx. 60-90 minutes.

On this ride, we’ll ascend Grove Creek, hop onto the Big Hole Crest for a minute then descend Drake Creek, taking a short gravel pedal back to the shuttle. SPACE IS LIMITEDe-MTBs OK

MTN Lab and Wild Rye Ladies Shuttle Ride

Come join MTN LAB and Wild Rye for an Intermediate group ride on our favorite descent in the Teton Valley – Mill Creek. This ride will include Andy’s Trail across the southern portion of Grand Targhee. From there, we’ll descend Colter’s Escape and connect to the famous Mill Creek Trail under the shadow of the Grand Teton. The shuttle van will pick riders up at the Teton Creek parking area at 3:45pm. No e-MTBs 

We will meet at the Wild Rye and MTN Lab tents (tents are next to each other). After the ride we will have cold bevies, swag, and a small raffle.

MTB GENERAL EXPERIENCE: This is my first season mountain biking and I can comfortably ride on pavement or wide gravel trails, maintain balance and can use hand brakes.

BIKE PARK EXPERIENCE: Little or no experience in a DH Mountain Bike Park.

MTB GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I have been riding a mountain bike consistently for one or more seasons and am capable of controlling bike speed and direction on smooth doubletrack and rolling singletrack trails.

BIKE PARK EXPERIENCE: I can comfortably ride on green and easy blue single track and freeride trails in the Bike Park or cross country. I am confident to ride and carry momentum through bumpy, rooty sections of trail without putting a foot down and have good brake control. I have a little experience riding Bike Parks.

MTB GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I have been mountain biking consistently for two or more years, can climb and descend under control on moderately steep singletrack with loose rocks or roots. I get out for a ride one or more times per week in a season and am comfortable at a moderate sustained pace. I know when to walk a section that might be too difficult.

BIKE PARK EXPERIENCE: I am comfortable on all blue technical trails and can ride all green and easy blue freeride trails in the park. My wheels rarely leave the ground. I can maintain my momentum and ride through rocky, rooty sections and am starting to look at increasing speed. I can comfortably ride raised ladder bridges and small rock faces. I have some experience riding in a Bike Park.

MTB GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I have been mountain biking for three or more years, am confident riding all types of singletrack in all conditions (muddy, dry, loose, rock slabs). I am able to ride small drops and jumps and descend technical steep sections including rock and uneven roots as well as ride at a reasonable pace for several hours and over multiple days. I can ride confidently with some exposure. I know when to walk a section that might be too difficult.

BIKE PARK EXPERIENCE: I am a strong rider on all blues and easy blacks and I can ride all or most of the features. I ride at a moderate but safe speed and carry my momentum. I can do small jumps (7ft +/- table tops) and drops safely. I am excited to ride steep roll downs, raised ladder bridges and technical trails.

Advanced

MTB GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I have been mountain biking consistently for five years or more and can ride technical trails including steep sections, small jumps, small drops (one-two feet) and low elevated North Shore-type sections. I can ride switchbacks confidently, rock gardens and sections with exposure. I know when to walk a section that might be too difficult.

BIKE PARK EXPERIENCE: I am comfortable at fast speeds on all black trails both cross country and in the Bike Park.I can pick a line through difficult technical sections, ride steep rock faces and raised skinnies.I have good technique and can carry and judge my speed to do medium jumps (12ft +/- table tops) and drops.

MTB GENERAL EXPERIENCE: I eat, sleep and drink all things mountain biking and have been riding for over a decade. I ride four or more times a week in all weather and can ride all day long in challenging conditions. I can handle most any type of terrain and can handle hike-a-bike sections and navigate truly technical sections. I know when to walk a section that might be too difficult.

BIKE PARK EXPERIENCE: I am confident at high speeds on all trails, I can ride all the features on black and some double black trails both cross country and in the Bike Park. I can clear large drops and jumps (20ft +/- table tops) with correct technique.

TOUR “D” GHEE RIDE

Estimated Time is 2 - 3 Hours

Beginner / Intermediate Cross Country Loop
Starting at the Targhee plaza we can tailor this ride to the groups’ abilities and the bailout options are numerous. Targhee has built miles of trails, all with perfect gradients and bermed corners to play on. On the beginner side of trails, but equally fun for the intermediate rider, Greenhorn, Jolly Green Giants, Land of the Lost, and Roundabout will get you accustomed to the Targhee-style of trail. If the group desires, the ride can head out toward the Peaked side of the trail system OR to the Rick’s Basin side of the trail system. All options include fun, flowy terrain and bailout options.

PHILLIPS RIDGE TRAIL

Advanced Teton Pass Cross Country Loop
Climb up the paved old pass bike path from the Stagecoach parking area, then jump on sweet forested singletrack featuring rocks, roots, and some of the best switchback turns anywhere. Outstanding views of the Jackson Hole side of the Tetons. Spin back along beautiful Flat Creek Road to the Stagecoach bar for a cold one.), Meet at Stagecoach Bar in Wilson, WY (1 Hour drive from Grand Targhee).

MAIL CABIN TO MIKESELL ADVENTURE RIDE

Estimated Time is 4 Hours

Intrepid / Advanced Cross Country Adventure
A mellow pedal up Mail Cabin Creek to the lung challenging climb (rerouted two years ago, still a grunt!) to the top of the ridge looking down into upper Palisades Creek drainages to the south (stunning views!). Ride along the ridge along the backside of Oliver Peak to the fast descent down Mikesell Canyon to the Mike Harris parking lot and the start of Nemo’s. Up Nemo’s to the intersection of Grumpy’s and Ladyslipper. Take the brand new Ladyslipper trail through the trees behind Teton Springs to the Pole Canyon parking lot.

ANDY’S TO MILLCREEK SHUTTLE RIDE

Estimated Time is 1 - 2 Hours

Intermediate Downhill / Cross Country
Starting at Targhee’s plaza, Andy’s Trail contours and climbs through the forest, then pops out onto the ridge with gorgeous views. Challenge yourself on the banked turns of Colter’s Escape fast descent. Then take a break to enjoy the view of the Tetons before descending the rest of Mill Creek. Over 1500 feet of descent. Meet at Festival Info Booth. Be sure to sign up, shuttle space is limited. Shuttle service provided by Hoback Sports.

BIG HOLE ADVENTURE

Estimated Time is 2 - 3 Hours

Intermediate Cross Country
Take the shuttle from the base area at 9:00am, riders will be dropped off in Horseshoe Canyon, with a wide variety of loops and endless trail connecting back to the start. Choose to climb either Bovine Bliss or Channel Lock then connect one to the other accessing, South Bound, Sharks Belly, Bumper Cody. There will be a leader for riders who prefer to ride with a group, other riders may branch out on their own to explore with a set time to load back onto the shuttle. Back in time for lunch.

Gravel Ride

Estimated Time is 1 - 2 Hours

Intermediate Distance Gravel Ride
Come see what the buzz is about on some of the best gravel rides in the west. Expansive views and western landmarks dot your path along the way. The beauty of the Teton cathederal group will remain a constant reminder of how wild this region is. Participants will meet at Fitzgerald’s Bicycles in Victor for some Doma Coffee. Rentals of gravel bikes will be free to paid registrants. After being fitted with a Salsa bike from Fitzgerald’s fleet, you will do a 1.5 hour ride on the beautiful roads in the southern part of Teton Valley.
